You’ve tried

When traditional therapy hasn’t created the progress you hoped for

You’ve shown up. You’ve done the reflection, the journaling, the hard conversations. Traditional talk therapy helps a great many people — and the effort you’ve already put in matters. But sometimes, even after real commitment, you can feel like you’re circling the same place, waiting for something to shift.

If that’s where you are, it may be worth exploring whether a different approach could help you move forward. Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy is one such approach — not a guaranteed solution, and not right for everyone, but something worth understanding and considering with a qualified professional.

The basics

What is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy?

Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) pairs a prescribed ketamine treatment with structured psychotherapy.

If you’ve only heard of “ketamine therapy,” here’s the distinction that matters: the ketamine itself may support a window of openness — a period when rigid thoughts and patterns feel a little less fixed. On its own, that window can close again. The psychotherapy is what helps you make use of it.

In this model, a licensed medical team evaluates you and, if appropriate, prescribes the medication — while your therapist walks with you through preparation, the sessions themselves, and the integration work afterward. The medicine and the therapy are designed to work together.

The difference

Why the psychotherapy part matters

This is not simply ketamine administration. The therapy around the medicine is the heart of the work — and it’s what distinguishes KAP from a walk-in clinic. It happens in three parts:

Preparation

Before any medicine session, we build trust, clarify your intentions, and make sure you feel grounded and ready.

Support during

You’re not alone with the experience. Artie is present to provide a calm, grounded, and supportive setting throughout.

Integration

Afterward, we work together to make sense of what surfaced and explore how it can be applied in daily life.

Preparation and integration aren’t add-ons — they’re where much of the therapeutic work happens.

The path

What your KAP journey may look like

Treatment is individualized — no two courses are identical. But most journeys move through three stages:

1

Preparation

We get to know each other, clarify your goals and history, and build the trust and grounding that make the medicine sessions feel safe.

2

Medicine-Assisted Sessions

Using medication prescribed by the medical team, you move through the experience in a calm setting with Artie present to support you throughout.

3

Integration

Together, we make meaning of what came up and explore how those insights can be applied to your life beyond the session.

Is it worth exploring?

Who may explore KAP?

People explore ketamine-assisted psychotherapy for many different reasons. It may be considered in connection with:

Depression
Anxiety
Trauma & PTSD
Substance-use concerns

That said, KAP isn’t right for everyone, and having one of these concerns doesn’t automatically make someone a candidate. Whether ketamine is appropriate and safe for you is determined by a medical evaluation with the licensed medical team — not by the therapy alone.

If you’re in crisis, please call or text 988 (the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline). Support is available right now.

Medical oversight

Medical safety and oversight

Two independent roles work in partnership, so the medical care and the therapy each stay in expert hands:

Achieve Growth Therapy

Artie Gately, LMHC

Provides the psychotherapy — preparation, support during your sessions, and integration afterward. This is the relational, change-making side of the work.

Journey Clinical

Independent licensed medical team

Handles the medical evaluation, eligibility, prescribing, the medication itself, and ongoing medical oversight.

Artie does not prescribe, administer, or supply ketamine. The medical role belongs entirely to Journey Clinical’s medical team.

FAQ

Questions people ask before booking

What is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy?

It’s an approach that pairs a prescribed ketamine treatment with structured psychotherapy — preparation beforehand, support during the medicine sessions, and integration afterward. The medicine and the therapy are meant to work together.

How is KAP different from going to a ketamine clinic?

A clinic model often centers on the medication itself. KAP places licensed psychotherapy at the center — the preparation and integration around the medicine, guided by a therapist who knows you, are core to the work rather than an afterthought.

Does Artie prescribe the ketamine?

No. Artie provides the psychotherapy only. Journey Clinical’s independent licensed medical team handles the evaluation, prescribing, and the medication.

How do I know if I’m medically eligible?

Medical eligibility is determined by the medical provider’s evaluation through Journey Clinical — not by the therapy. The free consultation is a good place to understand the process and next steps.

What happens during a KAP session?

In a medicine session, you take the medication prescribed by the medical team in a calm setting, with Artie present to support you. Preparation and integration sessions are talk-based therapy without medication. Every course is individualized.

How many sessions will I need?

It’s individualized — there’s no fixed number. The right rhythm depends on your goals and how you respond, and we’ll shape it together.

How much does KAP cost?

Psychotherapy sessions with Achieve Growth Therapy are $200 each. The medical evaluation, prescribing, and medication are billed separately by the medical provider.

Is KAP covered by insurance?

The psychotherapy sessions are self-pay at $200/session. We provide a superbill you can submit for possible out-of-network reimbursement, depending on your plan. Medical costs are billed separately by the medical provider.

Do I need to stop seeing my current therapist?

Not necessarily. Many people continue with their existing therapist alongside KAP. We’re glad to talk through what makes sense for your situation during the consultation.

What happens during the free 15-minute consultation?

It’s a relaxed conversation to learn about KAP, ask questions, and figure out whether it might be an appropriate next step for you. There’s no pressure and no commitment to begin.
